What I think that this quote means is that if you have a bad attitude towards something then you will make things harder for you and your life will be more complicated. But if you know something is going to be hard and you have a good attitude towards your bad situation then you will make it better because your attitude changed and you make things much easier for you.

Definition of attitude:  a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.

Synonym:   position, posture, pose, stance, bearing

Examples:

·        Good: I have a great attitude when I go to school because I want to learn.

·        Bad: I have a bad attitude when I don’t get enough sleep because I’m tired.
