Optical Laboratory Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:

They fit and grind eyeglasses into frames according to prescriptions written by ophthalmologists. They make the lens polished and then they fit them into the eyeglass frames. Optical laboratory technicians may work in optical laboratories or for ophthalmologists or optometrists. They may also work in retail stores that have optical departments.

Average Salary: $15,000-$20,000

Education:

Students who would like to become an optical laboratory technician must have a GED certificate or high school diploma which is needed to begin training. Training programs last between six months and one year. Some of the optical departments in retail stores offer on-the-job training.

I don’t think I would like to become an optical laboratory technician because I would like a career in which I could get a higher education and this career really doesn't
