Genetic Counselor
Duties
and responsibilities:
Genetic
Counselors work with patients and families who have genetic, or inherited,
disorders and birth defects. They also
work with people who are at risk for these problems. They also research about
genetic disorders. Examine
family histories to determine the likelihood of genetic problems. They show patients and families about
their conditions and how they might best manage their problems.

$53,204-$77,349
Education:
The education
you need to become is a master's degree, but before they get a master they must
get a high school diploma. Most graduate programs require a strong
undergraduate background in biology, chemistry, and behavioral science. Many states require genetic counselors to be
certified.
Do
you think you would like to be a genetic counselor? Why? Why not?
I think I wouldn't like to be a genetic counselor because I really don’t do well counseling or
working with people about their personal life and living habits.
