What I think that this quote means is that the greatest thing to do in life is to always stay obedience because by doing so you can accomplish many great things in life like becoming, being and reaming happy for the rest of your life just by obeying the rules. For example if you do not obey the law you go to jail and will not live a happy life.  And by staying out of trouble you will get rewarded and be happy.
